El medidor de espesor de la pestaña Benchmark™ es un medidor de sobremesa semiautomático y fácil de usar para medir el espesor de la brida en latas de bebidas con cuello. La pestaña es la característica física más importante del cuerpo de la lata, ya que constituye la interfaz crítica entre el cuerpo y la tapa. Flange thickness has been part of the specification for beverage and food cans for many years, because this dimension is critical to seaming performance and can integrity. Setting and assessing seam tightness is one of the most important quality control issues for fillers. This crucial function relies on knowing the thickness of the flange on the cans they receive from their suppliers. Until now, this data has relied on inherently variabe manual measurements, or it is simply recorded as a nominal value based on top wall measurent of trimmmed cans at the 'front end' stage of production before the flange has been formed.
Developed in response to customer requests, Sencon’s benchtop Flange Thickness gauge delivers the industry’s first high-precision solution for measuring this key dimension on the can specification. The gauge uses a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) with 1mm ruby tips mounted on a floating gimble that applies near-zero force to the flange. Together with a horizontal loading system that prevents lacquer distortion at the point of measurement, maximum accuracy is assured.
Users can set and store up to 20 user-programmable test procedures via a 9-inch high-resolution icon-driven color touchscreen. The gauge's short cycle time delivers a measurement range of 0 to 0.3 mm with highly repeatable results to ±2μm accuracy. Quick-change, tool-free inserts allow for rapid change can sizes, with change parts conveniently stored inside the gauge.
The Benchmark Series is a uniquely comprehensive range of benchtop gauges for beverage can measurement, test and inspection. The gauges use the same advanced technologies as the fully automatic Master Series™, making available Sencon's well-proven gauging solutions in compact, standalone units that are well suited to the quality assurance laboratory and are equally at home beside the production line.
Procedures are defined and selected with Sencon's proprietary Process Master™ gauging software or via intuitive touch screen icons. Then as soon as a can is loaded and the safety door closed the test is automatically carried out.
The gauges all accept different can body and neck diameters and can heights, with either no change parts or quick-fit inserts (see individual pages for details).
The gauges are highly configurable for test parameters, setting up of operator and supervisor presets, and for display and output of results.
Reliable and consistent measurements from gauges with excellent R&R (repeatability and reproducibility) allow manufacturers to gain better control of their process. Sencon has carefully researched and developed appropriate technologies for each test to deliver accuracy and efficiency in the beverage can making plant. The gauges are constantly self-monitoring and self-calibrating to ensure optimum performance at all times.
