Shell Gauge for Beverage and Food Shells

Non-contact measurement of unconverted shells

Sencon's Shell Gauge measures all features on the widest diameter range of beverage and food shells without the need for change parts or adjustment. A shell is optically scanned on both sides for any given position in just one second. Each shell is automatically oriented to the direction of the grain regardless of the coating type or decoration. Different size batches can be set up via three infeed drawers, which can be pre-loaded with color-coded cartridges while the gauge is running.

Machine Throughput:
Throughput times depend on the diameter of the shell, the number of slices measured, and whether grain orientation is selected. Measuring 2 slices on a 60mm shell with no grain orientation takes 66 seconds

Highly Adaptable And Configurable

Measurement of all features is supported on all current shell profiles. Results can be linked to individual shells and presses, with the ability to configure any number of presses. Different size batches can be set up via three infeed drawers, which can be loaded with pre-loaded, color coded cartridges while the gauge is running.

Virtual Sectioning™

Sencon's Virtual Sectioning™ feature shows a complete and accurate profile, including material thickness. Allowing users to carry out microscopic analysis by zooming in on the fine detail, removing the need for the time consuming and destructive task of physically sectioning ends (see interactive example below).

Add Progression measurement inside the same cabinet

The unit can easily be upgraded to add Progression Gauge functionality within the same cabinet if needed in the future, saving floor space and costing less than investing in two separate gauges. A combined shell and progression gauge can also be specified at the time of purchase.
