Fast, repeatable coating thickness measurement for flat sheets

The new and improved Sencon Hoverprobe pairs with Sencon's Coating Thickness Gauges to measure the coating, laquer, and varnish thickness (film weight) on flat sheets. At the press of a button, the Hoverprobe floats smoothly into position on a cushion of air, then settles onto the sheet under its own fixed weight. By applying the exact same load to the probe tip every single time, it delivers highly reliable, repeatable measurements across all tests.

If coating weight measurements are too variable, operators have to err on the safe side when applying coatings in order to be sure that target weights are met. This means that a percentage of unnecessary coating is always being applied. However, with reliable measurements from Sencon's coating thickness probes, the coating process can be brought under tighter control. Even a small reduction in coatings usage will quickly deliver a return on investment, saving money and raw materials, making it a smart investment.

RELIABLE AND DURABLE DESIGN

The latest SI9750 Hoverprobe features a base made from engineering grade plastic that does not risk damaging the product being measured. The base has been redesigned for easier replacement. An improved connector also makes the device more reliable and longer lasting.

STANDARDIZED PROBE TIPS

The easily changed probe tips are standardized across the range of Sencon coatings thickness probes (see Formed Can Probe and Formed Tube Probe), greatly simplifying stockholding, spare parts ordering and device management. Sencon recommends changing the probe tip every 4-6 weeks.

HOW IT WORKS

At the press of a button the probe floats quickly and easily into position on a cushion of air, requiring minimal manual side force to move it to the desired location on the sheet. When the button is released, the Hoverprobe™ simply settles onto the sheet under its own fixed weight, thereby applying the same precise load to the probe tip for every test, giving highly reliable and repeatable readings.
