Test & Inspection | Vision Systems | Label Verifier
Label Verifier detects and rejects cans with incorrect labels on 2-piece (DWI) beverage can lines. The problem of mixed labels is caused by “rogue cans” left on the line after a batch changeover. Reliably detecting these cans at source is vital for reducing time consuming HFIs and avoiding costly customer complaint. It is also used to detect upside-down or inverted labels on 3-piece aerosol lines.
PLEASE NOTE. LVC180 is not designed to detect thin lines or scratches*With Thin Frame Adapter, maximum can ∅ 114mm (4.50") special order*With Interior Mounted Lens, maximum can ∅ 120mm (4.75") special order
Incorrectly decorated cans hold up production by creating quarantine situations, often called HFI (Hold-For-Inspection). This can be caused by rogue cans left on the line after a batch changeover or by poorly applied decoration. Detecting and rejecting these cans is vital for reducing HFIs and avoiding customer complaints. Even at speeds of over 3,000 cans per minute, the Label Verifier mixed label inspection unit detects rogue cans left over from a previous design run. The optional product tracker and rejecter ensures that these defective cans do not reach the customer or cause costly HFIs.
Label Verifier's twin-sided 85 degree view of the can is much wider than that of comparable systems, ensuring very reliable mixed label detection. This can significantly reduce HFIs, saving time and money and promoting brand protection.
The risk of accidental rejects is typically between 1/40,000 to 1/500,000 depending on the sensitivity selected. Spoilage rates are much lower than those caused by less capable systems.
Self-learning technology needs no programming skills and removes the risk of incorrect set-up. Simple push buttons make the LVC180 very easy for operators to use with the only routine maintenance requirements being to wipe clean the inspection windows periodically:
When it comes to performance and price, the Label Verifier breaks all the rules, allowing rapid payback on your investment compared to other vision systems.
The unit remembers the label from the previous batch, protecting the line even while a new label is learned at the start of a batch.
Label Verifier is now supplied with an Advanced User Interface as standard. Operators can monitor live data, instantly view the last defect registered, save defect images, and load/save previously trained labels.
Label Verifier is also used on 3-piece aerosol lines to detect and reject upside-down labels caused by inverted body blanks.
The line side inspection housing is designed to be mounted on a single file track or elevator, typically just before the palletizer. The optional part tracking and reject unit allows the system to operate independently at any point on the line. The three control buttons can be located away from the camera unit, ideally in or near a local control panel such as the palletizer.
