The presence and legibility of best-before codes is of major importance to all food and beverage fillers. At times the codes can become distorted, causing customer complaint or rework. Sencon have found that print problems on cans occur for several reasons, including blocked inkjet printers, condensation on the can's surface or cans rotating during the printing process.
Quick recognition of these problems can save major headaches and costs. Sencon's simple to use VS302 vision system verifies the printed code. The system has saved sometimes significant costs from re-sorting and re-coding problem batches, dual coding or dealing with customer complaints.Following successful imlementation with beverage cans, the system has been further developed to verify lot codes on food cans.
By using automatic learning techniques, the VS302 only needs the simplest user intervention during code changes. This all helps for quick adoption onto the production line. Mounted immediately after the coder, the verification system checks every product as it passes by and gives instant warning of code problems. It has a capacity of up to 1,300 cans per minute and therefore has no detrimental effect on line speed when installed immediately after the Inkjet Coder.
