Prevent sheet coating Problems At Source"
Skew, or slight rotation of sheets as they go though the coater is not the only problem that can occur with sheet alignment and coating placement. Some sheets will also miss the side guide when entering the rollers and so drift sideways or 'translate'.
These faults cause poor coating placement which can then lead to weld wire breakage, damage to weld rollers or poor quality welds. The result is spoilage, downtime and customer complaints. By adding Sencon's SC430 Sheet Translation Measurement Option to the SC415 Skew Measurement System, these problems can be kept to a minimum.
Reduced Spoilage - If weld margins are not square and aligned properly, the chances of wire breakage at the welder are significantly increased. So when sheet alignment is monitored, the occurrence of misplaced lacquer in the weld area is minimized and the resulting effects on the welding process are reduced.
Reduced Machine Downtime - The downtime caused by weld wire breakage is out of all proportion to the original cause of the problem. Using the SC430 Sheet Translation Measurement Option with the SC415 Sheet Skew Measurement System to check both the 'squareness' and lateral alignment of sheets at the coater significantly reduces weld wire breakages and its associated downtime.
For skew, accuracy is better than 0.2mm (0.008"). Translation measurement accuracy is ±8mm (±0.32"). For both, this accuracy is achieved at operating speeds of up to 9,000 sheets/hr. This allows 100% inspection of sheets at high speed.
