Sheet Skew Measurement System

protects against poorly placed coating by
detecting skewed (rotated) sheets at the coater
Label Verifier Unit

The SC415 Skew Measurement System can be upgraded with additional modules SC430 & SC450 to provide a complete coating placement monitoring system

This coatings control device protects against poor coating placement on metal sheets by detecting skewed (rotated) sheets at the coater. It can also monitor and warn about bad alignment of sheets as they go through the slitter.

skewed sheet animationOne of the most common causes of weld wire-breaks on Soudronic™ or Canman™ can body welders has its origins back at the coater. If sheets are not properly aligned, then the weld margins will be out of place. This is what leads to breakdown at the welder and sometimes to porous welds on a finished can - a more serious quality issue.

Experience on modern high-speed coating lines shows that up to one sheet in every 2000 will skew or misalign badly as it goes through the rollers, no matter how well you control your process. The SC415 gives you the tools you need to quickly identify and cure these problems and to implement a comprehensive coating process improvement program. The SC415 Skew Detector cuts out the need for manual measurements and gives immediate feedback as sheets go through the roll. This helps to promote quicker changeovers, reliable roll alignment and faster production rates without the risk of extra scrap.

Accuracy is better than 0.2mm (0.008") at operating speeds of up to 9,000 sheets/hr. This allows 100% inspection of sheets at high speed.
