Accurate Coatings Measurement for Tighter Tolerances
Sencon's Online Wet Film Weight Gauge (SC8800) assesses how much coating has been applied to cut sheets as they come off the coater to within 0.3g/m2. This instant feedback can be used to make quick adjustments to the coater, preventing excess spoilage and wasteful over-coating.
One plant reports that before installation a barrel of coating would cover 11500 sheets. After installing the Online Wet Film Weight Gauge a single barrel is now used to cover 13000 sheets. This represents a 13% REDUCTION IN COATINGS CONSUMPTION. And this was after just one month of monitoring.

The Coating Thickness Gauge (SI9600) is used to measure the thickness of dry coating on formed cans, flat sheets or coated tubes with high accuracy and repeatability.

The Auto-Coating Gauge (QA4400) maps out a clear and comprehensive visualisation of coating distribution on the inner and outer surfaces of 2pc cans.
These gauges allow canmakers to optimise their coating processes, simultaneously cutting costs and benefiting the environment.
Dedicated Spray Control for
Reduced Spoilage
Research has shown that the spray cycle of modern high speed guns is often subject to a small delay at the beginning of the cycle, because residual lacquer in the nozzle causes a "sticky" response to the opening signal, risking a mis-spray. Also the shut-off at the end of the cycle can be slow, causing wasteful overspray. Both these issues increase spray weight variation.
Sencon therefore developed dedicated Solenoid Drivers for both voltage and current driven guns with a specially tailored power cycle that overcomes these anomalies. This improves spray weight consistency and product quality and also contributes to more efficient coatings usage.
Optimising Oven Settings to Reduce Energy Comsumption
Sencon's ultra-compact Smart Logger (SL2000) can easily be sent through any oven type - Pin Oven, IBO/OBO, Wicket Oven, or Sidestipe Oven - on 2pc and 3pc lines without incurring extra downtime. The detailed temperature profile it delivers can be used to maximise oven efficiency. It can also be used to optimise the performance of the dryer after the washer on bev can lines. This not only improves product quality but can significantly reduce energy consumption, harmful emissions and carbon footprint.
